Artifact No.49 - Little Devil Doll with No Eyes
On a recent trip to one of our favourite thrift shops, we stumbled across this creepy baby doll and knew it needed to come home with us. We have no idea why its eyes were removed, but honestly, it is part of the appeal of this doll.
The “I’m a little Devil” doll was produced by Ashton Drake in 1995. The doll has porcelain hands, feet, and face. It is dressed in a blue jumper and is wearing a bib that reads “I’m a little Devil”. And again, this doll has no eyes…Although if you shake the doll around, it sounds like something is rolling around inside its head, so its eyes may still be in there somewhere...
Google tells us that removing eyes from a doll is done to prevent a haunted or cursed doll from spying on or watching its keepers. It is believed that removing the eyes from a haunted doll severs the entity’s connection to the physical world. Some cultures even believe that the spirit continues to reside in the doll, but that removing the eyes means the doll can no longer see what is going on around it and therefore cannot send or receive any messages from the spiritual world.
We can’t be sure if this doll is haunted or not, but it seems almost sinister without its eyes. Something feels “off” about the whole thing. And to be honest, the doll’s creepy smile doesn’t really help much either.
If you think a creepy devil doll with no eyes is exactly what your haunted doll collection needs, then this Little Devil is for you.
