Artifact No.26 - The Sullen Girl Decorative Plate
Today’s artifact dropping on the Probably Cursed Museum & Gift Shop is “The Sullen Girl Decorative Plate”.
This decorative plate is roughly 8 inches across, and features a Norman Rockwell painting printed on it. The original name of the painting is “Sitting Pretty”, and the plate is an official collectors item with a number and dated 1986.
What really drew me to it is the expression of the girl. It is a reproduction of a painting, but since it has been translated ceramic, the artwork deviates quite a bit from the original. The girls’ eyes, for instance, have almost a subtle empty predatory stare. Although he is dolled up in frilly clothes and posed just so, she looks menacing. Almost a Wednesday Addams sort of vibe.
