Artifact No.19 - The Felt Artwork
This item was originally purchased from one of the Habitat for Humanity’s Re-Stores in town. I believe, Sheryl, you were the one who grabbed this for our collection? Do you remember what drew you to it?
It is a piece of artwork made of cut out felt depicting what I’m pretty sure is a merry go round. Three brightly coloured identical horses on poles with what might be a circus big-top over them. It is mounted in a dinged & scratched up 8x10 wooden frame and under glass.
Despite the colourful merry scene, there is almost a drab soulless feel to the piece. Like this artwork has been present to some dark happenings that have sapped it of any joyful feelings, and has it left looking slightly ominous.
