Artifact No.17 - Black Eyed Child Piggybank
Artifact 17 is a clay piggy bank sculpture of a small girl holding a kitten. We originally picked up this item from a thrift shop due its striking appearance. Its outfit is white and crimson. The crimson paint is cracking. The girl has a vacant expression on its face, which makes it look even more unnerving with the black eyes.
The girl has all black eyes, like the supernatural tales of the black eyed children. If you’re unfamiliar with Black Eyed Children, they look exactly lilke the name describes. Yet they are not quite children, and seem a bit unhuman. They knock on your door or car window and insist they get inside. People who have had encounters with them feel an overwhelming sense of dread.
Sheryl was able to track down it’s origin to likely be from the 1970s made by the Universal Statuary Company, a now defunct sculpture company that was sold in the 80s and passed to various owners afterwards.
